Firm founder and all-around champion of the people’s rights Rocky McElhaney has done it again! We are so excited and proud to announce that Rocky has been named to the Top 100 list of lawyers in Tennessee by Super Lawyers! At last count, there were more than 17,000 lawyers in Tennessee, which makes inclusion into the Top 100 list a real honor.
Earlier this year, Rocky was awarded a spot in the Mid-South Super Lawyers, and this latest achievement just cements what all of us here at RML already knew: that Rocky will never stop fighting for you!
How a Super Lawyer is selected
In order to be named to one of the Top Lists, an attorney must first go through the nomination process for Super Lawyers. Attorneys can be nominated by their peers or identified by the research pool. Any lawyer who is nominated by one of his or her own team members must have also been nominated by an attorney outside of the firm in order to be considered.
After the nomination has been accepted, then the researchers at Super Lawyers get to work. Every candidate is evaluated in these following 12 categories:
- Position within the firm
- Experience
- Bar and/or professional activity
- Honors and awards
- Special licenses/certifications
- Pro bono and community services
- Verdicts and settlements
- Transactions
- Representative clients
- Scholarly lectures/writings
- Education/employment backgrounds
- Other outstanding achievements
Attorneys are awarded points based on those categories. Finally, “the third step of the selection process is peer evaluation by practice area, also known as the ‘blue ribbon review.’ The candidates in each practice area with the highest point totals from steps one and two above are asked to serve on a blue ribbon panel. The panelists are then provided a list of candidates from their practice areas to review, rating them on a scale of one to five.”
In order to be awarded a Top List position, you have to have earned more points than other candidates or nominees – and Rocky McElhaney did! All those points, however, are thanks in large part to the people we serve. We’re proud to fight on behalf of our clients all over East Tennessee, and we know none of us will ever stop fighting.
From all of us here at RML, we say “Congratulations, Rocky!” And even though we’re very proud of you, we’re not surprised – after all, you’ve always been Tops with us!
